Steve Georgis

Founder, RDX General Manager, ProStor Systems

Steve Georgis has been an entrepreneur involved in the start-up and management of high-technology companies for more than 25 years. Today he leads the RDX drive and media business as general manager for ProStor Systems, a data storage company he founded in May of 2004. Mr. Georgis has raised over $27 million to develop market leading removable disk storage solutions for computer data protection and long-term archive applications. As a recognized computer industry veteran, Mr. Georgis has assembled a team of data storage experts with decades of success in designing, manufacturing and marketing advanced disk and tape storage systems.

Prior to starting ProStor Systems, Mr. Georgis was Entrepreneur-in-Residence with Boulder Ventures, a venture capital firm managing $250 million in investments. Before that, Mr. Georgis was founder, CEO and president of Network Photonics, Inc., an industry leader in the optical network switching market, where he raised $117 million in venture capital, and led the industry with the first-to-market MEMS-based wavelength switching system for use in core fiber optic telecom networks.

Before founding Network Photonics, Mr. Georgis was a member of the founding management team at Exabyte, a data storage manufacturer. There he spent 14 years and held numerous key roles in product development, advanced technology, marketing and strategic business development, helpinto take Exabyte public in 1989 and achieve revenue growth to $400 million several years later.

Mr. Georgis’ background also includes executive, management and technical roles with such data storage leaders as StorageTek and Data General. He has been awarded over 20  technology patents.

Mr. Georgis earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from Tufts University, and has had post-graduate studies at Stanford, UCLA and Worcester Polytech.
