A significant advantage of using RDX for data protection, retention and restore, is that it is the same technology used for primary storage and therefore carries those same benefits. RDX is a removable disk technology that handles and operates more easily than traditional tape drive and media, and has all of the advantages of disk-to-disk (D2D) systems. The RDX removable disk solution allows for backups to be accomplished in traditional fashions or data can be dragged and dropped directly to the removable storage media.
